Svitzer To Welcome Two New Tugs To Australian Fleet
Svitzer plans to welcome two new tugs to its Australian fleet later in 2018.
The 2412 and 3212 Damen tugs will join the west and east coast fleets respectively.
Svitzer Australia Managing Director Steffen Risager says the investment in the new vessels reflects Svitzer’s focus on the future.
“We have worked closely with customers and stakeholders, namely the Port Authorities and pilots to ensure that we are upgrading our fleet with the right vessels.
By investing in the future, we are delivering on our promise to help make Australian ports safer and more efficient,” Steffen says.
“We are building on our young fleet to support long term operations on the east and west coasts. We are excited about these investments and the potential productivity and efficiency gains they will bring to their respective ports.”
The vessels will be named by crew and on-shore employees. Naming ceremonies for both vessels will be held later this year.
