Our people

At Svitzer, doing difficult things in difficult places is part of our DNA. It not only requires the best equipment, but also the best people

Being part of the Svitzer family

Working at Svitzer is like being part of a very large family with over 4,100 relatives in +30 countries, spanning 80 different nationalities. Whether working at sea or on land, and despite our many differences in nationality, gender, age, job position and geographical location, we are all part of the Svitzer family and proud of the role we play in keeping global supply chains running smoothly.

At Svitzer, we believe that offering uninterrupted marine solutions requires not only the best equipment but also the best people. Our ambition is to attract and continuously develop the industry’s experts. Both at sea and on land – worldwide, wherever our customers do business.

We therefore invest in developing, training and recognising our people and we are dedicated to building specialized teams made up of the very best people for the job at hand. Our ongoing commitment to meet our customer needs means we are constantly building new skills and adding new capabilities.

We offer a world of opportunities and are always looking for new family members to join our global family.

Life at sea

Our more than 3,500 offshore colleagues working onboard the Svitzer tugs are the core of our business. They operate the front line and service our customers – often under difficult and challenging circumstance. From the icy waters of the Siberian coastline to the sun scorched ports of Brazil, they carry out their tasks with precision and care.

Kenny Christensen

“My best piece of safety advice is to always wear your Personal Protective Equipment, shoes and helmet.”

Marysabel Moreno

“My family sees me as a role model because I am the first merchant marine graduate and first machinist as well. Part of my job is performing maintenance on all equipment to ensure they are running properly.”

Life on land

If our seafarers are the core of our business, our onshore colleagues around the world form an indispensable support system. Within areas such as Commercial, Procurement, Marine Standards, Technical and HR more than 600 Svitzer colleagues do their important part to enable our men and women at sea to deliver safe, efficient and reliable services to our customers.
