Svitzer supports WA schools in Oceans Project launch

Representatives from Svitzer Australia were proud to launch an innovative education and sustainability project for high school students in Perth yesterday (19 February 2020).

Run across two schools in Western Australia, the Oceans Project aims to give secondary students firsthand maritime industry experience and exposure to ocean sustainability projects.

Svitzer in association with OSM Australia will work with Coastal Lakes College and Ridge View Secondary College in Perth to deliver the project over the next five years.

Representing Svitzer at the launch was General Manager, West, Jodie Ransom, Marine Standards Superintendent Trent Walkley and Albany Engineer Adam Western.

“For us, this partnership is about providing an expertise in skills and knowledge to assist a new generation of potential maritime industry workers and seafarers,” Jodie says.

The project aims to help students identify potential careers and local employment opportunities in the maritime industry.

It also allows students the opportunity to positively contribute to a healthy and sustainable ocean environment.

Students from both colleges are excited to be a part of the project.
