FLYING HALF-MAST FOR QUEEN ELIZABETH
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that Svitzer joins the UK nation and much of the world in mourning the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Throughout her 70 years’ reign, the Queen showed strong interest in and support of the maritime industry. Our thoughts are with the entire Royal Family at this difficult time.
On September 19, the day of the Queen’s funeral, we will naturally honour the UK bank holiday announced by King Charles III, however with our tugs continuing to service customers as needed across the UK. The same will be the case in Australia where the Australian government has announced September 22 as a one-off public holiday and National Day of Mourning to allow the public to pay their respects for the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.
In accordance with the UK government’s guidance, all Svitzer’s tugs in the UK will fly flags at half-mast from now until 8am the day following the Queen’s funeral, and Svitzer crew on duty the night before the funeral will observe the nationwide 1-minute silence taking place at 8pm.
